WPA Cuts Into Pennsylvania Relief Load

Harrisburg reports WPA employment cuts into the state relief rolls as a new 948 million dollar agency begins to reduce the weekly 1800,000 unemployment load. First unemployment compensation checks will reach about 130,000 to 140,000 idle Pennsylvanians, with benefits of 7.50 to 15 dollars weekly for 12 weeks.

Infant Resuscitation During Emergency Birthing

During a critical birth, the infant was assisted for 44 minutes by the intern and Dr. Robert Walker who arrived during the operation. They breathed into the baby's mouth, expelled air by pressure, then placed the infant in an incubator and administered liquids with an eyedropper as the child began to breathe normally. Funeral services were held for Agnes Macepham a long time resident of Rossiter with survivors including a son and four daughters. Interment followed in Rossiter Catholic Cemetery.

Three Injured In Auto Crash At Cherry Tree

In Route 210 south of Cherry Tree an out of control car driven by Carl A. Babiak of Heilwood struck another vehicle. Babiak suffered a nose laceration and two passengers, Mrs Gertrude McWilliams and Mrs Joy Means, received minor injuries. Police say Babiak faces driving without a license. Weekend PA traffic accidents claimed multiple lives and injuries across the state including Coatesville, Huntingdon, Greensburg, Scranton, and Philadelphia.

Juror tampering rebuked after Wiswesser acquittal
