Marriage license issued in Starford prompts age concerns

A marriage license was issued on Thursday to John Jurecko aged 2 and Annie Gresko aged 15, both of Starford, with the groom employed in the mines there. West Virginia’s Oldest Man Dies

Owners Blame Ship for Nantucket Collision in Admiralty Case

New York January 29. Courts will settle which ship caused the Nantucket collision involving the White Star Republic and the Italian liner Florida. Both owners filed damage suits seeking about 2.0 million dollars. Florida's owners sought limit of liability at 224000, while the Republic claims 2.1 million. Florida had a stay order suspending damages actions as the Oceanic line suit proceeds. Tortola owners argued the Republic officers caused the crash. litigation continues in admiralty court.

Identity of Burglar Reported in Cumberland Case

William Anderson or William Phillips, a burglar said to be from Dubois, Pennsylvania, was shot by a trapgun while attempting to open a cash drawer at Miller & Saylor near Meyersdale on January 1. He walked two miles after being shot and has no known relatives. Woman Confesses to Sharpsville Husband Murder
