Firefighters Extinguish Van Blaze in Indiana
Volunteer firefighters responded at 8 07 am to 381 Water Street to extinguish a fire in a war type vehicle belonging to Tomston. The van was a total loss with damage estimated at 2500 dollars. Fire Chief Bob Orange said the blaze likely started in the heater and crews were on standby during a cold spell. Poor road conditions delayed some responses while ambulances were kept available.

A Saturday blizzard caused multiple accidents near Punxsutawney and Brush Valley with icy roads and high winds. Five people were hospitalized as two Rola Jensen buses from Punxsutawney to New Bethlehem were involved, and six others were hurt in a Brookville area chain reaction crash.
