Horothy Klenk waved a rifle at night and convinced alleged strikers she was armed after they threatened to storm her home. Her son Williar Jr. took refuge in a cab pursued by mob drivers, which was stoned and the house attacked before deputy sheriffs arrived to rescue them.
Mr and Mrs Herold Overbeck were feted at a surprise shower at Asa Scotts Grant street home following their recent marriage. The bride Genevieve Grose received a warm welcome and the couple were gifted with many beautiful and useful presents and the best wishes of numerous friends.
Lieut Thomas Boottner of the State Police filed charges against Mrs Irene Schroeder and Dague who were held without bail after pleas were entered. A corps of attorneys was retained to defend Mrs Schroeder with W I Barnum of Youngstown as chief counsel and K W Powell Thomas W Dickey and Benjamin Garrett among associates. Dague, brother of W Glenn Dague, said none of the family visited the jail and no counsel was retained for him. The Dague family deplored the publicity given to the case.
A bomb blast rocked the New Southern Hotel in Stockton California early today causing guests to flee in panic. The Filipino club bombing marks another flare in anti-Filipino riots across California last week with no serious injuries among the occupants. The blast toppled the porch trellis and damaged surrounding windows, while the house across the street reported the most damage.
Kinzer, Lancaster City attorney, has been chosen to succeed the late W. W. Grigst as Lancaster County's representative in Congress. The Republican candidate received 15,607 votes to 7,253 for Democratic opponent George W. Hansel Jr, according to complete unofficial returns.

Roberta Roberty an 18 year old student at William Penn high school in Work Pennsylvania shot herself over severed schoolmate relationships. Police said she suffered a bullet wound to the head late yesterday and died at York Hospital after being admitted. Her father Inges Roberts, of Baltimore and Hampton Virginia, an engineer with Consolidated Engineering Company, was named in reports.

In Punxsutawney on January 29 a local youth who mimicked fire sirens at busy street intersections was arraigned before Burgess Tibby and admonished. Dana Bias aged 20 Basil Childers 24 and Adrian Bias 26, three convicts who escaped from the West Virginia State Penitentiary last December 18, are ordered to six months in solitary confinement. Dana and Basil were returned from Macon Georgia after a gun battle with a sheriff s posse. Adrian Bias was wounded and remains hospitalized awaiting return next week.
NOME Alaska Jan. 29 INS Search for the bodies of Lieut Earl B Bielson and Earl Borland his mechanic continued as natives dug through deep drifts around a wrecked cabin plane ten miles inland from the coast of Sierra. Capt T M Pat Reid with Pilot Edward Young and the mechanics prepared to fly today from the ice bound Schooner Nanuk to join the search. J Harrison Westover Esq well and favorably known attorney of Spangler was a Tuesday business visitor in the Court House.

In memory of our dear husband and father James M Simpson who fell asleep one year ago today January 29 1929. We miss him and recall the pain of his loss. We loved him but Jesus loved him more. Farewell dear father until we meet again in a better land. Sadly missed by wife and children.
