In a record Southern California rainstorm, more than 74 percent inches of rain forced about 1,500 people from their homes, closed schools, and disrupted traffic and business. A 7-year-old boy was reported missing as sheriff's deputies searched Lee Heavy-Page 6, Col. 5. The Weather Bureau said the front passed by 4 a.m. No drownings were reported.
