Chicago January 26 A tentative agreement between capital and labor paves a 10 percent wage cut for one year for 1 990 000 union rail workers while stabilizing employment for about 600 000 unemployed or part time workers. Railroads gain credit stability with added freight rate increases, aiding repair and rehiring though six hour day was not adopted.
Wednesday morning prayer circle runs from 10:00 to 10:30 with divisions and captains listed for District Nos 1 through 6 and Mta, including Mrs J H Simpson at 656 Chestnut Street and Mrs C W Rink at 450 Church Street, followed by a page note and a men’s suit ad with prices.

Police said Hawaiians protested as the two brothers were charged with battery after a woman guest claimed she was choked.
Barr Slopes Luzerne County and Wilkes-Barre men jailed for court in default of $1000 bail each. They allegedly forced entry into Idamar company store and stole merchandise valued over $250. Detectives traced Lamerean and Alfred to Chambersville. a gunshot halted a fleeing pair. later Burkley was arrested in Dixonville. Officers found eight chickens stolen Sunday night.
Thomas N. Robinson, cashier of Citizens National Bank, announced this morning his candidacy for member of the Republican State Committee from Indiana county in the April election. A longtime Republican and prominent Indiana banker, he is regarded by friends as well qualified to represent the county’s Republicans.
D. S. Shea of DuBois formerly chief of police for the Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway has been named captain of police for the B and O railroad Buffalo and Pittsburgh division with immediate effect. Indiana friends wish him success in his new position.

Judge W T Carr yesterday morning sentenced Jefferson county resident Theodore Redding Jr of Punxsutawney after he pleaded guilty to liquor law violations and driving while intoxicated. Redding must pay 300 fine plus costs and serve one to two years at Allegheny County Workhouse. Punxsutawney resident Pete Sprankle pleaded guilty to DWI and was fined 200 and 30 days in jail.
The Fourteen Original Bricktops with Miss Bobbit Grice in person will provide music for a Friday dance in Homer City Armory January 29. Sponsored by the Young American Girls Club, red-haired girls are admitted free. The Bricktops are Vita phone artists, popular on radio and at Fox, Lowe and Radio Keith-Orpheum attractions.

A high school PTA meeting is set for tomorrow afternoon at 3 30 in the high school building. Faculty members will answer questions on the course and school management. Parents are urged to attend the full afternoon session and visit rooms with a committee of women guiding visitors. The 8 30 evening meeting will be brief.
Bruno Kuczinski of O'Hara township reported to the county detective bureau that someone cut off his prize cow tail. He suspects a neighbor's hand in the mischief and says detectives will investigate.

William Wrigley Jr., 70, Chicago chewing gum magnate and owner of the Chicago National League Baseball Club, died at 2:30 a.m. M.S.T. in Phoenix after a heart attack. His son Philip K. Wrigley and other family members were at his bedside. Wrigley, famed for philanthropy and devotion to Chicago, had wintered at Catalina Island before moving to a Phoenix home.
An overheated radiator ignited a box of matches setting a Dollar store ablaze in Ambridge, forcing two families from a three story building. The blaze caused about $2000 in damage. A store sale ad line about men’s overcoats appears in the same clipping.

Thirteen new members joined in 1931 and new officers for 1932 will be elected as committees were appointed.
The Hart House String Quartet presented a classical program at Presbyterian Church led by Geza de Kreez and Boris Mantbourg with Adaskin Blackstone and Massey founders. They performed Haydn Op 76 No 3 and Bax in G major with refined encores and noted rhythm and melody, though critical tones noted lack of public quartet personnel.
