Fred A. Marriott, driving a cigar shaped steam racer at two miles a minute, struck hard sand on Daytona Beach January 28. The car rolled, Marriott was pinned in the hood, but survival-boosting boiler vents saved him. He was rushed to the clubhouse with facial and scalp injuries. Doctors feared possible eye loss and internal injuries though Marriott was reported out of immediate danger.

A. Sterling, formerly assistant forester in Washington, is named forester of the Pennsylvania Railroad. He will lead official forestry work to plant trees for future supply, starting with 681 acres near Altoona in 1907 1908. The railroad uses about 114000000 crossties annually, with rising demand affecting prices.
Mrs Anne ODons well was found dying under a third story window in a building housing the couple. The husband told police she walked in her sleep and climbed out. Neighbors say the couple quarreled most of the afternoon.
