Ecuador Seizing US Boats
Quito Ecuador AP reports that Ecuador expands seizures of unauthorised U S tuna boats claiming 200 mile waters. Nept une and Day Island among 13 vessels seized since January with $579 235 in fines and license fees paid for the other boats. U S recognizes only 12 miles and Ecuador may press the 200 mile claim at the OAS in Washington. President Velasco Ibarra vows to defend the policy amid US reprisals.
