San Francisco report says 18 year old Jacqueline Hornet and a Navy sailor faced juvenile court after eight day affair. Judge J L Martin sent both to juvenile court while next week decides if Jackie becomes a ward. attorney Paul Hill criticizes state aid.
A local ordinance establishes a one cent tax on every ten cents of amusement admissions in Indiana Borough. It requires permits after April 5 1948, monthly reports by permanent permit holders, and daily payments by temporary permit holders. Penalties include 10 percent late fees, fines up to 100 dollars, and possible county jail time.

In Clearfield Pa and Florence Italy a 10 year old boy Frederick Rome died after a sledding accident in Florence while two children Potts and Doris were injured as their sled collided with a truck near Route 53. The strike disrupted transit and commerce in Florence and delayed daily life.
Kay Francis, 43, improved today after collapse from an overdose suspected by detectives. She remains in an oxygen tent at White Cross Hospital with an upper respiratory infection, while stage manager Howard Graham was detained for five hours and later released after his account was verified.
Dallas January 24 The Overton Refining Company will pay ten cents more per barrel for crude from the East Texas Oil Field starting February 1. The posted price rises from 2.69 to 2.75 per barrel. President J B Wrather Jr calls the increase a bonus.
A $200,000 blaze swept Cranford New Jersey the old Post Office building damaging stores and offices including the Cranford Chronicle. The fire briefly threatened the business district. a confectionary and a jewelry shop were destroyed.

Ralph Schrencengost of Saltsburg appeared before Justice James Foulls at Kittanning on a charge of possessing and operating a motor vehicle with a defaced engine number. Signals heard from a frozen Colorado wilderness northwest of Denver prompted a search for a government C-47 missing since Wednesday night with three aboard. Lukens Steel Co at Coatesville announced a $6 per net ton price increase on carbon and alloy steel plates.
