Dr Arthur S Gilmore director of the Department of Social Studies at California State Teachers College and a nationally known educator has died at 58 from an inoperable brain tumor. He died yesterday at Johns Hopkins Hospital after a week as a patient. Surviving are his widow and three children including Mary Gilmore assistant dean at Syracuse University and two sons on Williamsport newspapers.

Miss Catherine O'Neil, a registered midwife, left Salisbury in a blizzard to reach Siloam eight miles away to deliver a baby and was reported unaccounted for. The Health Office asked a rotary snow plow from the State Roads Commission to search for her, believed marooned in an automobile two miles from Siloam. One rescue car was forced back by deep drifts. radio stations broadcast her plight to enlist local farmer aid.
