He cautions unmarried men to consider character over looks and emphasizes common sense as the key to advancement.
Discussion challenges the idea nutrition controls sex determination. Citing Landers 1867 and others, the text notes failed experiments where regulating food did not alter the sex ratio or birth rate in species, including butterflies. Washington January 23 First Assistant Postmaster General Hitchcock urged raises for post office officers and clerks and for letter carriers to match rising living costs. He presented a detailed estimate to the House committee showing $7,000,000 needed for officers and clerks and $2,000,000 for letter carriers. decision by the committee was not yet reached.
