Ninety Indiana State Teachers College students will receive degrees at mid term. A detailed department breakdown lists art zero, business 30, elementary 77, home economics 3, music 4, secondary 95, with names of graduates including Gallan Fisworth J and many others across Pittsburgh Johnstown Indiana and nearby towns in a Gazette classified listing.

Judge Goddard restated that proof beyond reasonable doubt requires Chambers testimony plus other trustworthy evidence that Hiss handed over secret State Department papers. The eight women and four men considered the case with no verdict by late night and returned to deliberate at 9:20 A M EST following a re reading of key instructions.

Towanda resident William E Vosburg won the Pennsylvan ia Motor Truck Association Driver of the Year Award presented by Gov James H Duff in Harrisburg. Vosburg, a State Highways Department driver, was honored for saving fellow truck operator Frederick Woodruff of Montrose from a burning truck and for a three year accident free record. The award coincided with his 36th birthday.
Police pursue leads on a gang after a Brink's Garage sighting. A woman reported seeing a car arrive and two men exit, saying she got a good look. Police quoted her account as under consideration.
Aleksander Rudzinski, 48, Poland’s ranking delegate at Lake Success, resigned his post and cut ties with his homeland. He and his wife sought asylum in the United States, a move disclosed in a letter to Secretary of State Dean Acheson.
