Survived by widow Hannah Hayes Edwards children Dorothy Arthur Jr and Hayes at home and four grandchildren. Funeral at Stephen J Conway mortuary with Rev. John Deutchlander in charge. Interment Edwards Cemetery Lower Yoder Township.
Mrs Weaver, aged widow, died after a long illness. She leaves a husband and four children Mrs L V May Mrs J M Swyers Mrs Clarence Calvini of New Bethlehem and Mrs Master Neely of Sligo. Also 12 grandchildren 5 great-grandchildren three brothers and one sister. One brother A W Weaver preceded her in death.
The Indiana School of Religious Education will open Tuesday evening at the First Methodist Episcopal Church with registration at 7 p m and the first class at 7 40 p m Four courses under competent instructors are open to Sunday School workers and church members in the Indiana area.
Brackenridge January 20 Allegheny Steel Company plans a new barge loading terminal on the Allegheny river after buying an extension to its plant site The track from Custer Sand and Gravel will be within 200 yards of the furnaces Executive vice president W F Detwiler says company trade growth made the extension necessary noting a 300 percent rise in customers over four years

Walter Prague died in Philadelphia when his car hit a traffic signal. A Mt. Lebanon trolley struck Mike Sospae near Pittsburgh. A Norristown man died of a heart attack shoveling snow. A 76 year old pedestrian in Philadelphia fractured a skull on an icy sidewalk. A WPA worker in Stroudsburg died from exposure and a Hazleton street car incident is noted.

A historic winter storm cripples eight main highways with 3224 workers clearing drifted roads in all counties except Crawford. Snow totals reach 24 inches in Fayette Somerset and Monroe counties while Crawford records one inch. Temperatures run 8 to 25 degrees above zero as streetcar and bus service falters and trains delay. In Catewissa a Reading freight derails after a frozen switch breaks three cars. Michael Buckery, 14, and Richard Posti, 13, are rescued after Buckery falls in a coal stripping pit. both escape without serious injuries. WPA crews assist highway workers to keep main routes passable while motorists seek shelter in farms and service stations.
In Somerset on January 20 a 34 year old man named M Adams acted as his own arresting officer and became bailiff, securing a 10 day jail term after asking to be jailed until he could sober up. Justice Charles J. HarWson noted Adams signed the information against himself and escorted himself to Somerset county jail.
A long list of local residents and visitors attended the Albert Raleigh funeral at Hillsdale last week and various callers were noted at multiple homes including families in Deckers Point East Run Wilgus and Indiana. Names appear repeatedly such as Pardee Gramley Brilhart Grove and Gromley among others with visits extending through Sunday and Tuesday evenings.
Mrs Jennie Maloy died of a stroke Friday morning. Ernest Dearmy visited Belsano. Revival services continue at the Belsano M E Church. Miss Marie Garrett returned home after appendicitis surgery. Anson Swan of Clearfield visited town. Arthur Hughes is ill with quinsy. Mr and Mrs Richard Troxell shopped in Johnstown. 1936 fishing licenses issued by County Treasurer John M Thompson at 1.80 dollars each, same as last year. Fishermen reminded licenses are ready when they are ready to fish.
Philadelphia January 20 Dr Dudley Saul prominent advocate of socialized medicine disclosed that the state insurance department has begun action to stop the group medical plan he sponsors He says he is prepared to fight any interference and notes four other groups are enrolled under his plan with the first in eastern Pennsylvania The plan charges $2 monthly for medical and surgical care hospital services and medicines for members and dependents at below private practice rates Saul is chief of the medical department at St Luke s Women s and Children s Hospital and has promoted socialized medicine across the eastern United States.
Justice of the Peace James J. Westwood testified as his murder trial defense witness detailing his night of July 3. He described meeting constable Tim Drexler and two women at a city club, riding in a car with Peg Moran Belmas and Catherine Cole, and sitting arrangement during the ride before a court recess.
Paul Tomallo, 25, admitted slaying his father John M. Tomallo, 58, of Elder Township. he was formally charged with murder before Justice Charles P. Rowland. His mother Catherine Tomallo, 52, was charged as an accessory after the fact, after she admitted aiding the deception that the death was by the elder Tomallo's own actions.
John A. Phillips, president of the Pennsylvania Federation of Labor, declares at the Benjamin Franklin dinner that Pennsylvania’s industrial situation has deteriorated since the NRA. He says codes kept employers to standard wages and hours, but now sweatshop conditions prevail, worse than before the codes.
Interment and funeral services for Thomas W. Campbell were postponed due to weather and will be conducted Tuesday. Friends may visit at the home of Harry A. Campbell on Carter Avenue.
Judge appoints Don H. Getty of Indiana to serve as court crier for multiple Indiana County courts, filling the vacancy after M. H. Wilson's death. Effective today, Getty replaces Jammer M. Williams. Borough orders snow cleared from all sidewalks by noon Tuesday or municipal workers will clear them and assess the costs to adjacent properties. private garage entrances will not be cleared by the Borough.
Allentown hosts the second biennial Young Democrats of Pennsylvania convention with Jackson Scart named state president.
