Route 22 Hearing Set For Feb 18

Officials said a public hearing on the proposed four lane limited access relocation of Route 22 from Armagh to Mundys Corner will be held Feb 18 at United Joint High School. Indiana Crash Victim Critical After Two-Car Collision

An Indiana woman Beverly Jane Pierce 24 remained in critical condition at Indiana Hospital ICU after a Friday 11 30 p m crash at South 13th and School streets. The second car’s driver John Romansic 20 Lucernemines and passenger John Zemetsky 19 Lucernemines were involved. Romansic had minor injuries. Other district mishaps included a Kittanning truck auto collision injuring two and a Kent curve crash with two taken for treatment. Total damage across incidents listed at several thousand dollars.

Indiana church council installs 1969 officers

Soviet Returns End Two Man Crew Mission in Space

The Soyuz 8 landing used a two section separation with Volynov aboard the capsule and the orbital compartment descending separately. Soyuz 4's 72 hour 46 minute flight plus a 96 hour 21 minute cumulative mission marked the first crew transfer and docking of two manned orbiting spacecraft. Keller named state finance chairman of new party

Warren J. Keller of Washington, Pennsylvania, is chosen as state finance chairman for the newly created American Independent Party of Pennsylvania. The appointment, announced Friday by party state chairman Leonard A. Reid, positions Keller at age 48 to oversee fundraising and financial operations for the party in the state.

Two Pennsylvanians Killed in Vietnam Action

AP reports two Pennsylvania soldiers were listed as killed in action. Army 1st Lt. John M. O'Farrell of Philadelphia and Pfc. John F. Kapp of Scranton died in Vietnam. The Pentagon released the latest casualty figures Friday.

County Eyes Oil Lease at Jimmy Stewart Airport

Indiana County Commissioners seek court approval to lease oil and gas rights on a 204 acre tract at the Jimmy Stewart Airport to Paul Benedum of Pittsburgh. The lease would allow up to three wells with a one eighth royalty and a $51 quarterly rental until a well produces, with operations not to interfere with airport activities. Hearing set for March 18 at 2 p.m. in the courthouse.
