Three From Commodore Die In Crash
A crash near Clearfield, Pennsylvania killed three: George Havanec, 25, of Commodore Indiana County died in Clearfield Hospital after a collision between an auto and a Cleveland to New York bus. Victims Andy Wasdi, 84, and his wife Helen, 30, of Commodore died instantly. June Shearer of Akron, Ohio, was only slightly bruised. Havanec, who served with the Army in Europe and earned the Purple Heart, was unmarried. The wreckage was dragged 75 to 100 yards from the Edwards Bus Line. The crash occurred at 2:55 a.m. as the trio were returning to Commodore from Ascela Mills.

Torrance Inmate Believed Slain Near Torrance Hospital
State Police said a sixty five year old inmate at Torrance State Hospital was killed by another inmate. Ella Bevard formerly of West Brownfield was found with a crushed chest and other injuries in her room. Initial reports suggested a fall but investigators now confirm an assault occurred.
