County Auxiliaries To V F W Met In Homer Sunday
County auxiliaries to the Veterans of Foreign Wars met at the American Legion Home in Homer City on Sunday afternoon January 15. President Helen Gross led the meeting with minutes read, roll calls, and communications approved. The group discussed the 1960 61 membership drive, District 26 events, and planned banquet in honor of National President Frances Millican on April 21 at VFW Country Club. Members donated candy and cookies for Scotland School, sent socks to Deshon Hospital, and approved a donation to the Department Hospital Fund. The Home for Widows and Veterans Children remains at capacity with 200 residents. home life staff reported on pupil activities and college placement rates. The March meeting will feature a District President visit, and officers approved life memberships and encampment fund donations. The session closed with a color rotation and a dinner.

The Indiana Chapter of Hadassah met at Beth Israel Synagogue on Tuesday January 10. Governor Aims 20 Point Road Safety Plan
Harrisburg AP Gov Lawrence today proposed a 20 point traffic safety program. It calls for legalization of radar for speed control, admissibility of chemical intoxication tests, and broader penalties for 17 year olds in motor vehicles. The plan seeks to raise state police strength, curb speeding with a graduated fine, and tighten night time vehicle safety rules.
