A fragmented clipping reports a social event with Rankin family members visiting Mrs. Baugh and a noted illness. In Montana January 17 a fire at Magnolia Refinery destroyed gasoline tanks and threatened nearby buildings as crews fought to contain the blaze.
Twenty two salesmen from the tri state territory and officers of the Hein Company gathered for a three day convention at the Hein Co big plant on the Northside Pittsburgh. Plans were laid for handling the greatest volume of business in 1923. An elaborate banquet at the Hotel Chatham concluded the event with John J. Hein as toastmaster and principal speaker.
The Green Township Mid-Winter Sunday School Convention will be held in the Baptist Church. The school is closed due to illness of teacher Miss Mc. William Sides of Indiana visited his mother Mrs. B A Sides. Mrs. A H Williams and children returned home after a two week visit in Philipsburg. Frank Williams of Indiana made a business trip here last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Sides visited John Sides last week.
Miss Sara McLaughlin of Creekside spent Thursday at her parents home. Mrs Mary Gilhousen and daughter Martha were Indiana shoppers on Saturday. Mrs John Grove and son Harry were Indiana visitors recently. Mr and Mrs Foster Lightcap were Marion Center visitors one day last week. Mrs Silas Prothero called at R W McLaughlin home one day last week. About two hundred people witnessed a basketball game Saturday night between the Home and Indiana teams, score 37 to 14 in favor of the Home. Miss Martha Blue of Indiana spent the weekend at her home here. Mr Clifford Hughes and William Gibson spent the weekend near Richmond, Mis. Susan Montgomery of near Chambersville visited Mrs Arthur Lambing recently. Denton, Vanhorn made a business trip to Indiana last Friday.
Brushvalley area residents including B F Underwood George Mack and Paul Adams visited New Florence and Johnston while Mr and Mrs Earl Mardis families returned home from weeks with Mrs Mardis parents. Several locals visited relatives in Seward and Bolivar and crews repaired the coal tipple at Elkins after a Friday accident.
