Lani Bird 2 Satellite To Begin US Japan Link
The Communications Satellite Corp plans commercial links between the United States and Japan via the Lani Bird 2 satellite launched from Cape Kennedy. It reached a synchronous orbit and will undergo tests to determine capacity, with about 240 circuits planned and the first link set for January 26. The Defense Department will claim 30 circuits April 1 for Hawaii Japan Philippines and Thailand. NASA has contracted for half the satellite's channels.

Baltimore AP reports Old St. Pauls Church started a year long 275th birthday by recreating a 1692 service with a rector in a powdered wig and ushers in plum hats. The 1692 Anglican rite of Holy Communion was used as the parish marks its founding in 1692. Next Sunday Cardinal Shehan will read an evensong, his first appearance as a Roman Catholic archbishop in a non Catholic church.

Two Juveniles Recovered Stolen Instruments In IUP Area
State police investigated after two students took five musical instruments from IUP properties and stored them in an abandoned Maple Street building. A watchman recovered four instruments and the remaining one, leased by the IUP music department, was also recovered. The youths were arraigned before Albert M.
