Local library shows 100 percent circulation growth in seven years
The Indiana Free Library reports a seven year 100 percent rise in circulation under librarian Carl William Hull. Last year 50 000 volumes circulated with about 80 000 visitors. Despite steady growth the budget shrank for supplies and equipment. The library operates two staffers and offers programs for grade schoolers and a first annual Book Fair.

Three Held In Chickens Thefts In Blairsville Area
Blairsville Derry and Derry Township men face grand jury charges for stealing chickens and rabbits in the Blairsville Derry district. Three men were remanded to Westmoreland county jail in Greensburg after a hearing before Justice T N Buell. A fourth man was released. Tyson and Willard were jailed in default of 1000 dollars bail, Uncapher in default of 1500 dollars, Greenwood released. Police say the trio confessed to stealing fowl from Ambrose Alligon and John Petrik.

Injured Salesman and Truck Driver in Head-On Crash
A salesman Oliver E. Martin 33 of Dormont Pittsburg suburb and a gasoline company truck driver were injured when their vehicles collided head on four miles west of Blakeville on the William Finn Highway.
