An old advertisement touts Tonsiline as the sole remedy for sore throat and mouth dangers, claiming it can prevent dire diseases like diphtheria. It urges readers to keep a bottle at home, priced 23 and 60 cents, from The Tonsiline Co. at 7 Danton, Or ito.
Puny children suffer malnutrition and delicate health after illness. Vinol, a cod liver oil preparation with added iron, is advertised to restore strength and growth in children and assist the elderly and sickly. Chamberlains Cough Remedy now carries label claims of containing no such drugs and is praised as safe and effective for coughs and colds. Various notices mention travel to Blairsville for a show and pension matters, plus testimonials for Chamberlains Pain Balm salve and Stomach and Liver tablets.
An Indiana citizen hawks a cure for chronic back and kidney pain via Doan’s Kidney Pills. Testimonial from Hiram St. Clair of Todtans Pennsylvania credits relief to the remedy bought at Hildebrand’s Drug Store. Foster Milburn Co. Buffalo New York sole agents for the United States. Remember the name Doan’s.
Many residents and visitors are noted across Johnstown and nearby areas. Harry Younkine, Richard Learn, John Kelly from Mitschell's Mills, and others visited Mechanicaburg and Ebensburg for business. Leona Gibson and Miss Jane Wilson joined relatives traveling to Princeton, while Charles Gessler recovers in Latrobe. Dr. Harry Gessler, formerly with the Columbus team, now with the Boston Americans, was mentioned along with a Deland, Florida trip by several locals.
An old advertisement argues early use of Miona stomach tablets prevents chronic indigestion.
