The United States Civil Service Commission announces Student Trainee exams for positions paying 2500 to 3175 yearly and Bacteriologist Biochemist and Serologist roles paying 4203 to 8300 yearly. Training combines on the job work with college study at accredited institutions nationwide and in Washington D C. Applicants must meet high school or college study requirements. First test is limited to those filing by February 15 1955 with applications due by May 1 1985. Bacteriologist Biochemist and Serologist posts are in Veterans Administration facilities nationwide and in Puerto Rico with no written test and no age limit. Cadet Colonel David L. Mitchell Jr of Monongahela announces cadet officers for the current semester at the University of Pittsburgh. Among selected student officers is First Lieutenant Robert McQuaide of Indiana, reflecting grades, discipline, and leadership as potential regular Air Force officers during the wing’s activities. Sixteen area college students at Indiana State Teachers College collected over 200 mammal specimens, 50 reptiles, 100 insects, and 800 amphibians and salamanders in the Indiana County and western Pennsylvania region.
