Mrs Cronkheit joined him as guests of honor while Colonel Richard White Watson of Indiana ran the program. The menu featured hardtack and beans as expected for 1935. Speakers included Kriss Kramer secretary of the 80th Division Association and Major C C McLain and Post Commander R X M Neville, both of Indians.

Indiana Branch Local Ends Long Service for Engineer Sheriff
The Indiana Branch local of the Pennsylvania Railroad marked the December 31 run as the last for Engineer Benjamin Sheriff of Blairsville. He retires January 1 after 61 years with the company, having joined December 20, 1883 and promoted to engineer July 8, 1887. Sheriff, 700 years old on December 14, began as assistant road foreman of engines in the Conemaugh Division, later serving as engineer on the Indiana Branch local. Remaining crew: W. E. Stuchell conductor, J. H. Bennett and W. C. Murray brakemen, J. R. Baker foreman of arrangements, all of Blairsville. Extra engineers from Blairsville will fill the cab in Sheriff’s absence.

Located one week from campus at Eleventh and Washington, the frame house has twelve rooms two baths and steam heat. A lawn surrounds the house and a tennis court awaits summer recreation. The house was leased last summer as members prepared it. History notes the fraternity is the oldest on the campus.

The 1933 34 season saw 440 ringneck pheasants 60 bob white quail 604 cottontail rabbits 11 raccoons 15 fox squirrels released plus 1140 pheasant eggs. For 1934 35 stock 745 ringneck pheasants 100 bob white quail rabbits in process of liberation. Commonwealth purchases 60000 rabbits annually and distributes them to counties.

In Montrose Jan 12 uns reported Samuel Moore aged 33 was committed to Wernersville Hospital from Dimock township for mental illness. To keep him content, hospital staff allowed him to sell candy to visitors and during an inventory after his death they found 13000 dollars in government bonds and cash from his hospital business.

Woman Injured in Auto Crash on Benjamin Franklin Highway
Miss Ida Katzman of Minneapolis suffered head and leg lacerations in a collision on the Benjamin Franklin Highway in Strongstown. Her vehicle, driven by H A Peterson of Minneapolis, collided with a second car driven by Alvin Davis of Vi ntendale, Cambria County. Both drivers and other occupants were uninjured. Patrolmen cited the Peterson car as hitting the Davis vehicle as Davis turned onto the highway.

Work projects adopt new five day week basis
Effective Monday January 14 the Works Division of the State Emergency Relief announces a five day work week for all projects with a 36 hour schedule. The week has two 18 hour units with specific hours Monday through Friday and a Wednesday four hour block. Eight hour daily maximum not to be exceeded while making up lost time. The change aligns with private construction practices and allows quicker handling of pri rolls and delivery of earnings sheets to the county on Saturday.
