Jan 22 Vienna Illinois Sheriff Mathis warned of planned mob aiming to lynch three accused murder suspects. Governor Deneen ordered Captains Satterfield Greeny Cody Swain and their Fourth Infantry units to report for duty at once to protect the jail. Suspects Josie Taborn Harry Taborn and Alexander Jenkins, jailed in Vienna, were identified as alleged shooters on a Vienna Harrisburg train run.
Minister Henry Dutcher marries Thomas Stickley and Florence Merkley in a snowbound scene near Winchester Washington. A wagon was bogged in a five foot drift and Stickley walked to summon the minister after their vehicle stalled. The ceremony proceeds in a farmhouse setting despite the drift.
Morristown dispatch reports New York financier banker Twombly died at his country home in Worbane Park after a month of serious illness. The telegram notes he suffered repeated heart issues and needed oxygen at the end. Stock market mention: Star stock valued at 396000 was to be sold at a future time with details to follow.

In Piqua Ohio on January 12 Rev Elmer J F Davidson an evangelist at the Church of Christ faced a police warrant for deserting his wife Mrs Laura B Davidson. He allegedly slipped from the rear vestibule through a Sunday school room basement and out a window to evade arrest and has not been seen since. Also mention of Chamberlains Cough Remedy appears as an unrelated product notice.
