Mule on Route 85 killed by auto near Kittanning
A mule owned by William Crutzer was struck and killed on Route 85 four and a half miles east of Kittanning by a car driven by Dennis Kirkpatrick of Rural Valley. Damage to the auto was estimated at 200 while the mule was valued at 150. Kirkpatrick said the mule stood on the roadway and he could not avoid the collision.

The Indiana Area Recreation Department announces winter swimming starting Friday with a free family swim from 7 to 9 30 p m Weekly family swims continue each Friday. Adult swimming instructions begin Monday Jan 15 at 7 15 p m with a five dollar fee. those who paid for fall instruction receive ten weeks gratis due to pool repairs. Arnold Haberkorn Jr will supervise the adult program. Mens gym swim nights are Tuesday and Thursday from 8 00 to 10 00 p m with a five dollar fee for use of the gym and pool.
