Allan Mason was arrested in Bradford Ontario after a late night car chase for drunk driving. He allegedly struck a man on the head with a board and bruised ribs before police subdued him with a second patrol car. The two Masons are not related.

Alice Miller, 235 year old red haired Chicago office worker, is charged with shooting to death Charles G. Marks Jr., 28, after a dispute over marriage and money. Marks died after being shot at a Waukegan railroad station while his mother watched. A paternity claim prompted blood testing as authorities pursue the case.
Three gunmen tied up the night manager at Phillips Prod Co Newark and two typewriters, then escaped with $37 in cash and a large safe from the Alrae Hotel incident. They carted off more than $35,000 in cash and jewelry. The manager, Anthony Balaban, identified the trio as the same men who robbed the hotel last October.
Police questioned three men today in connection with the death of Rev. Alfred Quinton of St. Edouard Alta. His body was found shot three times in his car on a highway near Brandon. Police opened a railway locker carried by one man containing revolvers, a pistol and two hunting knives. Father Quinton had just driven seminarians to Winnipeg.
William D. Thomas, 45, a Mercer County Democratic chairman and florist, named secretary of property and supplies for Gov elect George M. Leader. The appointment is the 12th in the 18 member cabinet, with a $15,000 annual salary. Thomas vows to run the department efficiently and cut taxpayer costs.
Five long time employees of FE H Baare Manufacturing Co in St Louis inherit the 14 million dollar concern under the wills of Edward H Baare and his wife. Vernon Ambach receives 51 percent of 4499 shares as former president. Charles James Jr Otto Groose Robert Renkel and George Hoch receive 13 13 and 10 percent respectively. The firm supplies wire and sheet metal parts.
