US Planes Arrive For Laos Army

Four armed observation planes and several helicopters from the United States arrived in Vientiane amid fears of an arms race in Laos. Man crushed to death under car in Washington pa

The Associated Press reports Theodore Roupe, 52, killed when a car fell on him at his Chartiers home in Washington. Police say a heavy truck driver from Taylorstown discovered him pinned beneath the vehicle. Roupe died of chest injuries.

Firemen injured in Tarentum garage blast

Dashiell Hammett Dies At 67

New York AP reports Dashiell Hammett a noted detective story writer died at 67 in Lenox Hill Hospital after a long illness. Hammett helped found the hard boiled school of American detective fiction and is remembered for The Thin Man and The Maltese Falcon. Jackie Coogan Freed On Bail In Malibu Marijuana Case

AP report states Jackie Coogan, 48, freed on bail in Los Angeles after sheriff deputies patrolled his Malibu Beach home Saturday.
