Land Owners Not To Cooperate On New Highway Project
The Board of County Commissioners told property owners along the Georgeville Trade City reinforced concrete highway in North Mahoning township that construction will not begin until satisfactory damage claims are arranged. Owners have not cooperated, and if the highway remains unconstructed this year, it will be due to those who reject fair claims and signed leases. The board, led by Ch L Bence, James To Herder son and George Nesbit, plans to prevent future trouble over excessive damages and protect taxpayers. Damage payments of 160 dollars per acre are deemed fair, given many farms could not fetch 74 dollars per acre. Plans approved by the Department of Highways, bids opened in Harrisburg, Williamson Construction Co. of Turtle Creek was the low bidder at 21081265. The contract will not be awarded until continued.

A five months long man hunt by State Troops concluded with three arrests. Robbers used entry methods to break into Holtz and Urass clothing store at Cherry Tree August 1 and fled with over 2000 dollars in goods.
