Clark was released on seven thousand dollar bond after being charged with impersonating an officer and taking money under false pretenses.
President Eisenhower appoints James P. Richards former House Foreign Affairs Committee chair as special assistant with rank of personal ambassador to head a mission to the Middle East. Richards, a South Carolina Democrat who retired from Congress, will advise the President and Secretary of State on Middle East issues and counter Communist influence.

A crudely painted segregation dummy bearing the inscription All NAACP bus riding Black people was found hanging from the Walnut Street Bridge in Chattanooga.
