Father Reaches Home to Learn Son Dead in Johnstown
Merton A. Davis of North Carolina learned on his way home that his son Mer ton Jr. had died of pneumonia in Johnstown. The funeral was held today in Nant-y-Glo after the body was sent there by undertaker Henry H. Steving. Two other children are buried in the family graveyard. Davis arrived in Johnstown Tuesday and, after telephoning home, learned the tragedy. He had missed a connecting train due to an altered timetable and stayed in Johnstown overnight before continuing home Tuesday morning.

An unknown Italian worker was killed yesterday afternoon when slate fell in the Ernest mine. The body was prepared by Undertaker McCracken of Creekside and Paneras services were held this afternoon by Father Farm. Interment followed at St. Bernard's graveyard. Snow disrupted Ernest telephone lines and officials at Punxsutawney have not been notified. Coroner W. D. Gates is in Graceton and an investigation is expected tomorrow.
