A coroner ruled the Arcadia fire death of 79 year old Michael Watso accidental. Watso died from third degree burns after a kerosene lamp ignited in his small three room home. Neighbors Norman Pierce and his father Joseph forced entry to find Watso on his bed as flames smoldered nearby. State Police and the coroner found no foul play and noted the fire may have started late Thursday night or Friday morning.
Moscow officials offered no comment on unconfirmed reports that a manned rocket reached about 186 miles high and a passenger returned to earth. Informants claimed the event occurred shortly after January 1, with details uncertain and weather affecting Indiana County roads and road conditions.
