Fire damages Philadelphia Street building in Indiana
One of Indiana's most disastrous fires was averted when a fire at Swank's Meat Market 918 Philadelphia street caused about 1200 dollars in damage. The blaze started behind an electric switch box and spread through the rear wall to the second story and roof. Mrs Blanche Kerr and her daughter Edith Louise smelled smoke and alerted neighbors. firefighters arrived quickly, breaking doors and dousing flames despite dense smoke. Most damage came from smoke and water in the meat market, store, and Mrs Clark's apartment. Continued on page two.

Clarion Woman Dies From Injuries in Crash
In Erie Pa on January 7 Emma C Whitmer 65 of Clarion died at Hamot Hospital from injuries from a Tuesday accident. Ethel Curll 50 also of Clarion was hurt with a fractured pelvis and other injuries. Whitmer's daughter Evie J Criswell drove the Whitmer car in the collision with E J May Evie. Survived by widower George F Whitmer a son and two daughters.

Body of Young Flier Found After Christmas Crash
The body of Lieut. EB H. Bobbitt, 24, an army pilot, was found yesterday near Willey Head, Elkins West Virginia, strapped in his seat with burns after a crash while en route from Selfridge Field Michigan to Hot Springs to visit his parents for the holidays. Two passersby located the wreckage in a dense woods as search efforts paused due to bad weather. State Police prepared to move the body to Valley Mead for return.

English Professor's Condition Improves
San Francisco January 7. Improvement noted today in the condition of Dr. Thomas F. Sanford 65 English professor at the University of California who had been critically ill of haemophilia since a major operation. Blood transfusions from many of his former students saved his life, doctors said. Haemophilia causes non coagulation of blood and risks fatal bleeding from wounds.

Plane crash kills two society fliers near Newville
