The aim is to boost returns for small landowners and curb losses from fires and waste, under the Pennsylvania Forest Products Manufacturer’s Association.

Milton Pennsylvania January 7 CNSI A park for elk squirrels and wild turkeys began about 80 years ago by Alex Billmeyer after a hunting incident and now run by his son Harry Billmeyer Montour County associate judge. The estate holds 14 elk plus many squirrels and turkeys. At peak 115 deer were kept but killed during hunting season by friends. Turkeys leave during hatching then return to nest. About five elk are born yearly. It costs nearly $1000 annually to maintain the herd.
John L. Lewis leads a proposed plan to end the anthracite strike by forming a five member mediation board including operators and miners with a fifth chosen by ballot. If deadlocked an arbiter would decide. Both sides seek wage talks and duration terms, with a likely five percent raise vs Lewis seeking ten percent.
Jack Stewart, his son, and a nurse narrowly escaped a duplex fire. A trunk of Christmas clothes survived in their Elk Run home and was taken to Lock Haven. The other half of the duplex also lost belongings but escaped fumes. Victims are being cared for in nearby homes.

He is principal speaker at the American Road Builders association annual banquet at Congress hotel. Rebroadcasts are possible on KDKA Pittsburgh and WZ Springfield Mass. Dr. C Wallace Petty will give the other dinner speech.
Helen Schultz, 18, mother, was acquitted by a Philadelphia Quarter Sessions jury after 80 minutes of deliberation in the murder case of Edward J. Lister Jr., who died after refusing to name her 8 month old baby. Schultz vowed to relive life with her daughter Gloria. The proceedings centered on alleged coercion and motive surrounding the infant's identity.
