Death calls aged resident in Stovestown

Mrs Ellen Zimmerman Rhodes, aged 75, wife of Jonathan D Rhodes of Stovestown, died Friday night at her son Milton Hoffman’s home in Strongs town Indiana county. Funeral services were held this afternoon at Mt Tabor cemetery and a requiem mass was planned at St Bernard's Church. She was a Somer set county native, last of 11 children, survived by husband and son Joseph Rhodes.

Fire threatens old McMillen homestead press room

A fire last night endangered the old McMillen homestead at Main and Walnut occupied by the Ledger Publishing Co. City firemen confined the blaze to the press room, causing about 4000 dollars in damage. The lower press deck, large motor, and switchboard were ruined. repairs have begun.

Pennsylvania ranks second among the 48 states in postal savings banks for the year ended June 30, 1923. The state has 448 offices with deposits totaling 11,777, nineteen.
