Legal Point Involving Thaw Testimony Before Highest Court
New York on the eve of second trial of John K Thaw the defense seeks to bar Mrs Jemtyn Nesbit Thaw testimony arguing it raises a vital legal point. Jerome would decide whether the Thaw precedent governs admissibility while district attorney claims the earlier ruling compelled the jury. If allowed the testimony would have shaped the defendant’s mind as in prior proceedings.

Pettibone Is Free in Idaho Murder Case Break
After fourteen hours of deliberation a jury acquitted George A. Pettibone of complicity in the murder of ex Governor Frank A. Steunenberg. The charge against Charles A. Moyer was dismissed. Haywood and Pettibone were exonerated. Pettibone, frail in health, will return to Denver as Simpkins remains a fugitive. Haywood calls it a vindication and says it confirms a conspiracy to weaken organized labor in the West.
