Two New Regular Divisions To Begin Training
The Army plans two new divisions the 1st Armored and 5th Mechanized Infantry bringing total regular divisions to 16. About eight months of intensive training are needed before combat readiness with a projected cost around 70 million dollars for organization and equipment. The Pentagon targets to field them by year end, while holding some National Guard units in reserve.
