Polio Fight Receives $6000 From County Chapter
Johnny Yuha, a high school player from Elders Ridge Pa, suffered a neck fracture and two vertebrae in a game on November 3. The Indiana County Chapter of the National Foundation for Infant Paralysis spent 6000 to assist 22 county polio victims in 1951 and to provide Yuha companionship while hospitalized at Bellevue Medical Center in New York University.

The chairman released a financial report by treasurer Anthony Graff detailing 1951 polio aid and 1952 goals. Six of 22 patients aided in 1951 were old cases and 16 were new. The body of Blaine L. Little of Josephine, a Blairsville High School baseball pitcher and Indiana County native killed in action Sept. 21, will arrive in Blairsville tomorrow for burial at Blairsville Cemetery. Funeral services are set for Wednesday with military rites by local Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Posts. Little, born May 4, 1929 in Dixonville, served from March 21, 1951, and was an artillery driver with Company C, 70th Tank Battalion, Eighth Army. He shipped from Seattle to Korea and fell after roughly one month in action.

Harry W. Truitt of New Kensington near Indiana is expected to be released on bail today from the Allegheny County workhouse after the State Supreme Court ordered a new trial and criticized the original handling as political. He and four co defendants spent 10 months in custody awaiting bail as bail was set at 3000 dollars with his wife contributing funds to reach the total.

Homer City Firemen Answer 14 Calls in 1951
Fire destroyed an estimated 26445 worth of property in five Homer City area fires during 1951.
