In Chungking negotiations the Communist reply to Chiang Kai-shek’s New Year offer endorses three points in general: ceasefire and restoration of communications, a three person committee including Marshal to decide procedures, and the inclusion of observers. Four specific conditions are urged including immediate halt to civil war, restoration of land sea air lines, and broad investigative groups across all circles. Government Minister K. C. Wu calls point one favorable. other points to be discussed today or Saturday.

John F. O Keefe resigns as business manager of the Chicago Daily News to become executive secretary of the Chicago Newspaper Publishers Association effective about Jan 10. O Keefe, 41, joined in 1934 and later led the association. Elbert M Antrim of the Chicago Tribune is named president.
A small delivery truck crashed into a tree near Indiantown Gap Pennsylvania last night killing driver Clyde Rohland 37 and injuring seven newsboy occupants. Four youths remained in hospital three received minor injuries and were discharged while two others escaped unharmed.
Governor Martin announced the appointment or reappointment of nine county boards of assistance, serving without pay. In Armstrong County, Todd K. Glenn of Leechburg and Dr. C M. Long of Kittanning, both Republicans, replace Harvey H. Hanna of South Bend and G L Ralston of Freeport. In Clearfield County, T R McCracken of Mahaffey, a Democrat, is reappointed, with Raymond J. Swallow of DuBois, a Republican, succeeding Glenn W. Benson of DuBois.
The Liberty ship John B. Hood with 570 returning veterans was adrift after its propeller failed during a storm. It was towed toward the Azores by the John Mc Donagh while the Hood's troops were set to transfer to the aircraft carrier Enterprise. The Athos II also faced sea difficulties as it planned to pick up servicemen.
Washington reports the Bureau of Agricultural Economics forecasts farm prices to stay near current highs for several months with some declines for livestock in spring and a possible rise in potato prices as storage costs rise. Domestic demand remains strong despite income dips, and meat marketings will be large early in 1946 with prices near 1945 levels overall.

Funeral services for Jack Reno 8 Pittsburgh pioneer balloonist will be held tomorrow at his Hazelwood home where he died Wednesday after a long illness. Reno began ballooning in 1908 at Schenley Park and helped inaugurate the baseball season at Forbes Field in 1923 with a parachute jump from a plane in the city. Before retiring in 1930 he made about 3000 parachute jumps.
Blanche Travers Edison widow of William L. Edison, eldest son of the inventor, died yesterday at her Westover Hills home in Wilmington. She leaves two sisters, Frances Travers and Mrs H Gregg Dandy of Mendenhall, Pa. The item ends with a note about Linnaeus and a floral clock.
