Culver Bryant Chamberlain American Consul en route to Harbin was dragged from a consular automobile at Mukden by three Japanese people two soldiers and one detective and beaten. He identified himself with his diplomatic passport and was struck on the face with his cheeks badly bruised. The incident was reported to the Japanese Charge d Affaires at Peiping and to the State Department as officials consider a protest to Tokio. Chamberlain, 31, a Princeton Indiana native, began foreign service in 1920 and has held posts in Canton Tientsin before this assignment.

A Great Eastern Stages bus overturned along the Lincoln highway near Stovestown Pennsylvania injuring more than 30 people. Two were seriously hurt Mrs Bessie Brown 60 of Woodbridge New Jersey and R A Kneff of Akron Ohio with fractures and possible internal injuries. The bus caught fire but no one burned. firemen extinguished the blaze. Most injuries from glass and bruises. Driver blamed front brakes locking on descent.

Death claimed Mrs McKelvey after fall and illness
Amanda McKelvey, 81, widow of William McKelvey and former Clarksburg and Blairsville resident, died at 7 am at the home of her granddaughter in law and grandson in law Dwight Ray at 843 Philadelphia Street after pneumonia followed a hip fracture from a fall last Tuesday. She had lived with the Rays for two years and leaves a son H J Taylor, two stepsons J A McKelvey and F McKelvey, a brother D C Dixon, a sister Mrs Tressie Long, and several relatives. Funeral services are set for 2 pm Wednesday at the Robinson Funeral Home with Rev J W Mountain and Rev Robert L Clark Jr. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs Furman also noted as Florence Conrad Furman, 34, died yesterday in Adrian Hospital Punxsutawney from chronic neuroligic illness.
