New Year's Eve Fire Blamed On Cigarette Cigarette Start Hits Two Indiana Women
Two Indiana women died from smoke asphyxia in a New Year’s Eve fire at 1372 Water Street. Fire officials blamed a smoldering cigarette left in a living room couch for the blaze that damaged the two story home. Florence J. Bunyan and Mabel M. McDonnell, sisters aged 63 and 66, were found on the second floor. Authorities noted no electrical fault and said the fire was confined to the living room though smoke and heat damaged the interior.
