In Topeka Kansas a 13 year old girl, Linda Lee Lantis, confessed to police that she shot her father, Lawrence R. Lantis, 46, in the back of the head with a .22 rifle after an argument about a boyfriend. Officers said she kept birds, fur-bearing animals, and game in her home and had a large collection of animals across multiple species. The defendant, noted for a marksmanship medal, claimed the rifle used was the same one used to win the medal. The case traces to a New Mexico estate with six of seven life none found on the continent.
