Six Miners Die in Austrian Coal Mine Blast
A gas explosion at a provincial coal mine in Fohnsdorf Styria in the British occupied zone of Austria today killed at least six miners and injured ten. More than 100 other men escaped as the blast occurred. The cause is not yet known. In Illinois a National Coal Association survey shows most miners are away from work with only seven mines in the Belleville Til district operating. John D Battle said the cause of the Illinois shutdown remains unclear and that explanations are not yet available.

Two Men Arrested At Sunday Breezy Point Fire
Blairsville resident W Robert Robinson and Chevy Chase driver James Jones were arrested after a Breezy Point fire. Jones crashed into a fire truck despite a crew warning. Robinson allegedly ignored two red emergency lights and traffic duty at Maple Street and Wayne Avenue, hindering firefighters.

Steelworker Shot by Bride in Robinson Township Home
A five year-old steelworker was shot to death in the Robinson Township home of his father in law. The bride Dorothy Zeigler Howrylehak, 29, admitted the shooting after phoning Carnegie police. The victim John Howryschak died from a 22 caliber rifle wound. The couple, married six months, argued prior to the shooting. The father in law Ross Zeigler, 34, Cleveland, said he heard the dispute. Police seized two revolvers a rifle and ammunition from the car of Zeigler. He was held on firearms charges as investigators sorted motive.

The couple had separated when Smith, unaware she had left during a service stop in Dwight 30 miles away, was asked where his wife was. Fire levels St Clair home near Reading Pa
Lyle St Clair, a former Indiana resident and florist living on Green Torrance Road two miles south of Wernersville, had his two and a half story home burn Saturday evening. Firefighters faced obstruction from curious onlookers as flames consumed the house leaving only a tall chimney. Loss was estimated at 25000 and the cause was not learned.

Woman Injured In One Of Three Local Accidents
Indiana woman Mrs. Nelson McGregor aged 61 was hit crossing Philadelphia street at Seventh Street and suffered a possible knee fracture. Driver Conrad J. Hart, 37, of Glassport, was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and the victim was admitted to Indiana Hospital. Earlier crashes included a taxi car collision at Eighth and 11th streets causing $250 damage with drivers Norman F. Clawson and Dale R. Bare, and a second minor crash at Fifth and Charea streets involving James J. Shoop who faced an operator's license charge.
