Mindoro strikes sink ships 150 miles from Manila

Ogden Utah January 2 The worst railroad accident of 1944 left 28 military and 19 civilians dead when a westbound Southern Pacific mail and express train crashed into a passenger unit at Great Salt Lake coastal crossing. Purse Snatched Saturday Night in Indiana
Mrs. J. W. Campbell of 250 South Fifth Street reported a purse snatching Saturday evening around 8 from in front of her residence. The thief fled with the bag, leaving a few keys and laundry cards behind. The purse contents were later found between Fifth and Seventh streets and Water Street near Vanegar Hill.
