A Hazleton woman, Mrs Catherine McKenzie 40, died at Westmoreland Hospital Greensburg from a skull fracture after a car overturned in a collision on the William Penn Highway near Delmont Eight others were injured in the series of crashes including Miss Marie Walker 35 of Pittsburgh Dr L E Croup 37 of Hazleton was hospitalized with injuries and questioned by state police Also involved were Maude Ferguson and B F Reed both of Cleveland Ohio who suffered injuries and shock as they traveled from Blairsville to Cleveland.

State police pursued Joe Perocca after Louis Montana, 40, of Truxell near Vandergrift, was shot in a Christmas night duel at Perocca's home. Two material witnesses were arrested as investigators believed Perocca wounded Montana with a heart shot. Montana died.

Fatal Rock Fall Claims Sykesville Miner at Helvetia Shaft
John Dulock, a pick miner from Sykesville, was killed in the Helvetia Shaft of the R and P G I Company when tons of root rock collapsed overhead. The accident occurred shortly after 10 o'clock on Tuesday morning as he was alone in his room after returning from Christmas leave with his wife and four daughters. Fellow miners freed his body after several hours of effort.
