Man Involved in Dec 1 Collision Faces Uncertain Recovery

Staff surgeons at Kittanning General Hospital report Clarence Boyer, 30, of Blanco, Armstrong County, severely injured in a December 1 automobile crash near Elder on Ben Pest Franklin Highway. He remains unconscious with a fractured skull and multiple injuries, yet retains unusual vitality and intermittent responsiveness. His wife cares for him constantly as doctors note no signs of sleep condition despite near-constant sleep. Continued on Page Three.

Victim of football injuries dies in Pittsburgh home

Pittsburgh telegram reports 20 year old Mervill Weber, a former Langley High School player, died at his home from a brain hemorrhage believed to result from injuries sustained in a neighborhood football game earlier in the year. Weber, who left Langley High last year, was 20.

Denver Pacific Railroad seeks ICC approval for 800 mile line

Washington December 24 authority to build a new 800 mile railroad from Denver Colorado to San Pedro Harbor California was requested from the Interstate Commerce Commission. The application was filed by Coleman Crenshaw president of the Denver Pacific Railroad Company incorporated in Delaware last September.

Girl Scouts Organizing Here With Weeklong Training

Beginning February first at State Teachers College a week long training course for scout leaders will be led by a national Girl Scout representative. No registration fee or age limit. Stolen Alverda Car Found Near Ebensburg Road

A car reported stolen from Mrs. J. B. Bradbury of Alverda Indiana County was found yesterday on the Ebensburg Wilmore road by state police from Ebensburg barracks. The vehicle, taken from a Barnesboro parking place late Tuesday night, was nearly destroyed by fire upon discovery. Investigators are probing both the fire and the theft.

Parents killed meeting daughter in Lock Haven crash

In Cresson on December 24 Mr. and Mrs. W A Parish of Munater township near here were fatally injured when their car was hit by a Pennsylvania railroad freight train at a grade crossing in Lock Haven. Mrs Parish died instantly. Mr Parish died an hour later after a skull fracture.

Submarine liquor tow system seized near Detroit

Detroit police and customs halted a Canada to U S liquor run using a torpedo like container towed by a mile long line from Pechee Island to a lakefront house. The conveyor carried up to 40 cases per hour while the unloading line operated beneath the residence. no one was found in the house during the raid.

Sidney S Lenz, 58, a famed bridge player, laments just before Christmas that he has little to stand on as Ely Culbertson and Theodore Lightner extend their lead in the long Culbertson-Lenz bridge match at the Waldorf.
