Public Service Leader Sees Prosperity To Continue

Thomas N. McCarter, president of Public Service Corporation of New Jersey, says prosperity should extend into the coming year. He notes the system serves over 800 percent of New Jersey, with gross income about 120 million dollars and assets near 300 million, and cites national utility investments totaling around 26 billion dollars across power, street railways, and telecommunication sectors. He warns against overexpansion and stresses economic rather than political solutions, urging prudence and vigilance to protect public investments. The article discusses a proposed $165 million government water and power project including a large Colorado River dam, an all-American canal, and a power plant capable of 1,000,000 horsepower, with repayment guaranteed by water sales and amortization within fifty years.
