Laird quits as Nixon aide. Ford to assume duties
Washington AP Melvin R. Laird will quit as presidential counselor February 1 and hand over congressional liaison and domestic policy duties to Vice President Gerald R. Ford. Bryce Harlow also reportedly plans to leave White House duties next year. Laird cited Watergate as harming policy and urged Congress to impeach Nixon by March 15 or within 60 days of the new session.
