Dec 20 1951 Patrolling truce talks in Korea move to a one shot staff officer contingency after two hours of talks at Panmunjom with no progress reported. Brig Gen William P Nuckols stressed the decision to appoint staff officers was due to lack of progress and not any new gains.
Harrisburg report says the Pennsylvania House and Senate reached a GOP backed pact to shrink the congressional delegation from 33 to 16. Speaker Herbert P Sorg predicted House approval of the redistricting measure by a handy margin, paving the way for adjournment of the longest legislative session in state history.
A no parking ban on state roads in Clymer runs from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. and includes Franklin Street from bridge to bridge and Sixth Street from Franklin Street through Penn Street to the borough line. The ban was ordered to facilitate snow removal operations.

Dental technician Marty W Truitt of New Kensington has won a new trial on charges of pushing a policeman and grabbing his phone. The State Supreme Court granted a re trial after criticizing the prior sentence of four years in the Allegheny County Workhouse. The decision follows a trial where racial and political evidence was admitted before Judge John M. O Connell. The family sold belongings to fund the appeal, hoping for release before Christmas. By 8 30 p m EST, 2 940 names had been identified and telegrams went out to nearly all next of kin. The tally includes 2 724 soldiers plus eight Navy men, 58 Marines and 6 Air Force members. At least 75 kin abroad were identified, with the rest awaiting confirmation and routing from Tokyo and Panmunjom.
The Senate House Defense Production Committee report says the Savannah River project near Aiken South Carolina faced delays as AEC and Du Pont investigators spent September and October sifting through inquiries. The joint committee cited 4100 man-hours in review with overlap between the AEC and contractor efforts. Chairman Gordon Dean attended the closed session where staff progress reports were discussed amid mixed praise and criticism.
High winds and heavy snow again disrupted Indiana County traffic as highway crews shifted to main routes. Paris dispatch reports Greece won a United Nations Security Council seat, defeating White Russia on the 19th ballot by 39 votes to 6. The election required a two thirds majority of members present and voting, ending the longest UN council deadlock to date. Greece will replace Yugoslavia. Chile and Pakistan earlier filled other vacancies.
