Town Teen News Spotted At Christmas Parties

Deborah Kerr received the Golden Apple from the Hollywood Women’s Press Club yesterday. Charlton Heston was honored with a similar annual award in New York for being the most cooperative film star.

Swinton Named General News Editor for AP World Service
S Swinton appointed general news editor of The Associated Press World Service, with responsibility for overseas news distribution in New York starting mid February after European tours. Allan Jacks will succeed Swinton at Rome, Webb McKinley at Istanbul. Swinton, 37, long AP veteran, will work with Paul Sanders. Jacks, 41, Dartmouth graduate, is a reserve lieutenant colonel in the Army.

In 1952 he won a Reid fellowship for study in Europe and rejoined The AP in Rome, where Vladimir Golschke served as chief of the St Louis bureau in Istanbul in July 1956. McKinley, 39, born in Bays City, Mich., Amherst graduate, joined The AP in 1947 and is assigned to the Rome bureau. He served in the Army from 1941, entering as a private and rising to major by 1945. He covered general assignments for two years at The Ann Arbor News before joining The AP.

Workers To Get Salary Increases In 1930s Greensburg
GREENSBURG PA City Council announced all salaried municipal employees will receive raises next year. Increases range upwards to 30 dollars a month while hourly workers gain ten cent hourly hikes. Taxes stay unchanged as the budget awaits adoption.
