Mortality statistics show cancer slightly above normal, pneumonia and influenza normal, whooping cough normal, smallpox no deaths for the thirteenth consecutive month. Sear-Net fever three deaths, lowest rate on record for any month with one exception August 1916. Typhoid fever lowest rate on record except September 1922. this year’s September rate 5.5 per 100 000 and 1925 rate 5.3.
Harrisburg dispatch reports September birth rates from the State Department of Health. New Kensington led with 40.2 births per 1000 population per year. Cheltenham Township had the lowest rate. Swissvale and Cheltenham had more deaths or fewer births, at 72 and 88 percent respectively.
Night watchman, wounded in a shooting, lies in the Indiana Hospital with a badly torn left leg. He is listed in fair condition this morning. Bonacel is in custody, held for a preliminary hearing before Squire G. G. McLain later today.

In a sealed verdict opened today W J Courtney a Mittsburgh detective on trial in Lawrence County court for violating the Snyder dry law in the alleged sale of liquex in Ellwood City was found not guilty but ordered to pay court costs. The charge was made by Detective George Kennedy of Lawrence County and testimony revealed sensational alleged conditions in Ellwood City.
