The death toll from a typhoon sweeping Central Philippines rose to 569 as a second storm neared Luzon. Torrential rains drenched Manila and 150,000 residents were left homeless with millions in property damage.
Harrisburg report on a bi partisan House committee tackling disagreements over the Pecian loyalty oath bill. Rep. Charles C. Harrisburg December 18 AP A new snag develops in the state tax plan as a $5 million compromise tax program faces opposition in the lower chamber. The House approved $108 million in tax bills after a conference report to settle differences, but defeated the insurance tax bill which would end exemptions for mutual, fire, casualty and marine insurers in Pennsylvania and raise the rate from eight mills to two percent.
Johnny Yuha survived his operation but remains on the critical list at New York University Bellevue Medical Center. His family and neighbors await further word as the Yuha Fund funds travel to support his care and relief from spinal cord pressure.
